The Handbook Of Shows is available here: BCSS Handbook of Shows This is the 11th edition, published 2021 and valid for all BCSS shows since 2022.
The Handbook of Shows is used to determine which class plants of each genera can be entered into. All cactus and succulent genera are assigned to a Group for the purpose of shows. Some Groups are further subdivided into Subgroups. Plant genera can be put together in Groups because they’re closely related, were once thought to be closely related, or because they share similar characteristics, such as habit or growth rates. Some Groups only contain one genus. If you’re new to showing plants, or haven’t entered a show since the latest edition was published, consulting the lists in the Handbook of Shows will help you determine which of your plants can be entered into classes 1 to 38.
Classes 27 to 33 are all Subgroups of the Crassulaceae Group, so you will find these listed here in the Handbook Of Shows.
If you’re not sure what class to enter a plant into, feel free to ask the Show Secretary or Show Manager: secretary@bradford.bcss.org.uk. You could also ask for advice on the BCSS forum or the Bradford branch Facebook group.
If you’re struggling with the entry form, alternatively you can email the show secretary listing the classes you want to enter, the number of entries per class and your details. Details needed are your name, email address, BCSS membership number and branch (if you have one).
